Corsica: unforgettable places

A sailing holiday in Corsica means discovering paradise on earth. Here are some places not to be missed.

Spiaggia acqua cristallina in Corsica, Francia

Capo Corso

At the tip of the island, the Capo Corso hides a luxuriant nature and a unique heritage; there are numerous paths that lead from small bays and coves up from the sea and allow you to visit the mountain villages, the sometimes arid landscapes and the remains of past times.

The Lavezzi Islands

The Lavezzi Islands, along with other neighbouring archipelagos, constitute the largest nature reserve in France. It is a true corner of paradise: fine sand, turquoise water.

Of the eight islands of the Lavezzi Archipelago, Lavezzi is the most beautiful: its wild nature is provided by turquoise waters, unspoilt beaches and coves, and a seabed rich in life!

Strait of Bonifacio

Stait of Bonifcacio is the strait that separates Corsica from Sardinia. The mistral, even when it does not blow strongly on the coast, wedges itself into this arm of the sea, gaining strength, and the currents are channelled, increasing in intensity.

Characteristic is the high white cliff, a true plateau of over sixty metres, which follows the course of the cliff, at the top of which the town of Bonifacio reigns majestically.

The Gulf of Porto

The Gulf of Porto is one of three French UNESCO World Heritage sites. Its wonders include the Scandola Reserve, the Gulf of Girolata and the Calanche Plain.

Characteristic are the red granite cliffs, turquoise waters surrounding the islets, secret bays and hidden caves.

Ajaccio

In Ajaccio, the white city, it is also worth stopping off for a sightseeing trip to wander through its ancient streets laden with memories of Napoleon Bonaparte.

La spiaggia di Ajaccio

The city of Ajaccio, with and around its gulf, is cheerful, bright and sunny: beautiful beaches, bays, small inlets and coves of fine sand.

Roccapina

In south-western Corsica, between Sartène and Bonifacio, the Roccapina cove is an isolated oasis of tranquillity and beauty: a fine sandy beach and one of the clearest seas on the island, with a rocky seabed rich in life and famous for its sea urchins. The hill behind it is called the Lion’s Rock because, shaped by the wind, it has the form of the king of animals, and seems to watch over this wonderful cove.

Roccapina, la roccia del leone

The three most beautiful beaches in Corsica

The bay of Rondinara has the shape of a perfect semi-circle surrounded by clear, calm, turquoise waters, alternating with rocks, promontories and granite islets, which are coloured pink by the sun at dusk.

Palombaggia, just three kilometres long, is perhaps the most beautiful beach in the whole of Corsica: the sand is clear and immaculate, while the crystal-clear sea reflects all the tones of the shallow sea bed for many metres, from blue to turquoise.

Palombaggia, spiaggia e mare blu

Saleccia beach is one of the most beautiful and least crowded beaches in the Mediterranean in the heart of the Agriates Desert. Over the years it has retained its wild and inaccessible authenticity, featuring tropical elements such as white sand, turquoise water and rich vegetation.
